Spotlight: Men’s trench coat
Men’s trench coat: the essential spring coat
The emblem of the punk and gothic gener ations of the 1960s, the trench coat has conquered the general public and become anessential mid-season men’s fashion item. Corine, head of the IKKS Men brand, explains why this raincoat, originally used by the army, has become such a mainstay in any decent male wardrobe.
The trench coat: a garment with mythical origins
Created in the early 20th century, this calf-length raincoat was widely used by different armies to protect men from wind and dust (hence the name “coat from the trenches”). Immortalised by Gene Kelly in “Singing in the rain”, or Humphrey Bogart in the movies, the trench coat made its definitive début in men’s wardrobes in the 1960s.
The IKKS trench coat is treated on cotton or nylon and is either waterproof or water repellent. This makes it a very safe buy. Always with a belt, this windcheater is perfect for mid-season weather.
In dark grey or beige, this season’s IKKS trench coats keep the details that gave them their reputation for quality: removable belt, tab to tighten the cuffs, shoulder tabs, etc.
